    Create a File

    Use this effect to create a new file in a data source. The data source used is of type General File, and you can choose from a list of supported file types.

    The supported file types are:

    • Microsoft Word Document (*.docx)
    • Microsoft Word Macro-Enabled Document (*.docm)
    • Microsoft Word 97-2003 Document (*.doc)
    • Microsoft Excel Worksheet (*.xlsx)
    • Microsoft Excel Macro-Enabled Worksheet (*.xlsm)
    • Microsoft Excel 97-2003 Worksheet (*.xls)
    • Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation (*.pptx)
    • Microsoft PowerPoint Macro-Enabled Presentation (*.pptm)
    • Microsoft PowerPoint 97-2003 Presentation (*.ppt)
    • Microsoft Project Document (*.mpp)

    To create a file do the following (Client Action):

    1. In the Name box, optionally enter a name. The name is displayed in the action tree, if a name is not entered, a summary of the effect is displayed.
    2. In the Data Set box, select a data set. Only data sources of type General File is available.
    3. In the File Type box, select the file type from the choices listed above.
    4. In the File Name box type the name of the file, without extension.

    To create a file do the following (Server Action):

    1. In the Name box, optionally enter a name. The name is displayed in the action tree, if a name is not entered, a summary of the effect is displayed.
    2. In the Description box, optionally enter a description.
    3. In the File Data Source box, select a data source. Only data sources of type General File is available.
    4. In the File Type box, select the file type from the choices listed above.
    5. In the File Name box type the name of the file, without extension.
    6. If the user should be able to change the file type and file name, select the Allow the user to enter a file name and select a file type check box. The user will then be given the possibility to change the values in a dialog box. This option is only available if the effect is included in a Task which not is constrained to run on the Application Server.
    7. The Title box is only available If the Allow the user to enter a file name and select a file type check box is selected. Here you can enter the title for the dialog box.
    8. The Description box is only available If the Allow the user to enter a file name and select a file type check box is selected. Here you can enter the description for the dialog box.
